AAPI Herstory with Senator Regine Biscoe Lee

Senator Regine Biscoe Lee is a Guamanian politician serving the Democratic and currently serves as senator in the 35th Guam Legislature. I sat down with her to talk about AAPI identity, and her love for her home country, and the values that her upbringing and culture influence her work. I’ll say that in my first few minutes of talking to Regine, she made me quickly fall in love with Guam without having even seen a picture of the beautiful island. She also shared that Guam was actually the first in the US to elect a supermajority of women in all three branches of government there!

A quote that she said during our interview is currently up on my wall on a post-it note: life is “not a straight ladder up, it’s more like a jungle gym” and her affirmation to always be “courageous, kind, and know that you’re on a path.” I hope you join us for our conversation on identity, the importance of feeling strongly rooted in your values, and allowing yourself to feel comfortable with the unexpected both in your life and career.
